75% of tourists buy a plastic bottle

75% of tourists buy a plastic bottle... simply because they don’t know where to refill their reusable ones.

This is the figure that started it all. Since then, we have been mapping the world, one fountain at a time.

Today, Akualis is available on iOS, Android, and Web. One single community, three points of entry—ensuring that no one is left off the map.

What strikes me most about this journey: every contributor who adds a fountain in their neighborhood or on a hiking trail creates a tangible reduction in "default" plastic purchases. You don’t need a massive campaign. Just verified data, in the right place, at the right time.

Our next milestone? Increasing map density along major summer routes—the Camino, the GR20, the Atlantic coast—before the season kicks off. Every water point added now will serve thousands of hikers come July.

If you believe that access to drinking water should be as simple as opening a map, join us.

Become a water explorer too!

By downloading Akualis you’ll have the unique opportunity to contribute to the creation of a global map of drinking water points — identifying new sources and confirming the quality of already listed ones. You’ll benefit from this map when you need to refill your bottle, reducing your environmental impact!
